London's Winston Churchill War Rooms

 If you are a big Churchill fan, you will make sure you find time to check this spot out. He was the British Prime Minister from 1874 to 1965. You can find out all about his political career and props that he used to make his famous.

Cigar And Red Siren Suit

If you know anything about Churchill, you know he enjoyed his cigars. You will get to check out some great props on the cigars that he liked to smoke. You will also get to check out his famous red siren suit. You will also get to see his passion for races and his creative side as a painter. You will enjoy checking out the other things that he enjoyed doing during his life here.

Media And Churchill

You can check out some original footage on the great man and what he has done for the world. You can see him at his finest in some great photographs all around the war room. A 50 foot long timeline can be see as well that really helps you grasp what he was all about and what he has all done during his life. You will get to see firsthand what it was like to be near Churchill in very creative ways. They really do a great job at making you feel like you were there during the time of his life.


The War Rooms

Churchill called these rooms his underground headquarters from 1939 to 1945, while World War II was making it's presence in the world. They are all preserved since 1945 and really help you get an inside look of what life was like for this war general. You will get to see Mrs. Churchill's bedroom and Churchill's quarters where he spoke to the nation regarding different subjects. You will be greeted with a fantastic audio guide to help you brush up on your history as well as guide you through your experience here. The War Rooms are open to the public all day long starting at 9:30 am and lasting through 6 pm. The last chance for the day to get in will be 5 pm.

Churchill's Bunker

Here you will get a chance to see what his personal assistants though of the historical figure. Elizabeth Layton was Churchill's private secretary and she describes very vividly what it was like to work for the man. She really admired the man and working for him. She felt she was very lucky to land the job and work for such a fantastic human being. She said she would have done anything to help him out. She said that he would respect them fully and would never make them do anything they did not want to do. You can also check out what life was like in the rooms during the war and hear stories about what was all taking place. It must have been a very stressful area during that time. George Rance helped keep the rooms secret during the war and really helped out Churchill and his success.

In conclusion, whether you are a World War II buff or just a Churchill fan, you won't want to miss this place. It takes a hold of you and brings you back in time. You will appreciate everything it has to offer.
